Good Luck Team Row 4 Victory

The Talisker Whiskey Challenge is the premier event in ocean rowing. The annual race begins in early December, with up to 30 teams participating from around the World, starting from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands across to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua – a distance of more than 3000 miles. This year QA Weld Tech is sponsoring Team Row 4 Victory;  four fearless friends from Yorkshire who will be putting their physical and mental strength to the test when they compete in what has been described as “the World’s toughest endurance race” in aid of the British Legion and Soldier On!
The team unites a serving Royal Engineer, an ex-Royal Marine, a civilian and a serving Chief Technician in the Royal Air Force. They will attempt to cross the unrelenting seas and win the 4 man pure class race, smashing the current record. It’s in commemoration of 100 years since the end of the Great War that the lads are rowing for these two awesome military charities. Everyone at QA Weld Tech wishes Fraser, Will, Duncan & Glyn every success and we look forward to seeing them cross the finishing line in The New Year.

Pressure Vessel Manufacturers Forum Tour QA Weld Tech

On the 11th of April we were delighted to host members of the PVMF at our manufacturing facility in Middlesbrough. Visitors were able to view our independently certified test bays and discuss with our pressure testing team how we set up safely for the hydrostatic testing of pipework and pressure containing components.

The Pressure Vessel Manufacturers Forum (PVMF) is a networking group of leading UK pressure vessel manufacturers who meet on a regular basis to share industry knowledge with regard to materials, production processes, international standards, legislative and employment issues.

The PVMF is sponsored and organised by Lloyd’s Register, but is chaired on a rolling basis by senior management representatives of pressure vessel manufacturers and the agendas are determined by the members of the forum.

QA Weld Tech Attends Sellafield Ltd Directors Forum

This week our Business Development Manager, Andrew Dean, attended the second Sellafield Ltd Directors Forum.

Held on the 19th March at Energus in Workington, the forum aims to act as a stepping stone in helping smaller companies to win business at Sellafield.

Having recently achieved Fit for Nuclear (F4N) and with a wealth of transferable skills and extensive experience, QA Weld Tech is looking to make its mark in the nuclear sector.

The full day event was engaging and informative, advising companies on a clear route into Sellafield. Delegates were given a full insight into the last six months and how the company has performed. There was also a session focusing on the procurement opportunities through Sellafield’s improved ‘Procurements on a Page’ scheme.

If you would like to get in touch with Andrew to find out more about QA Weld Tech and our core capabilities, please contact adean@qaweldtech.com.

Pressure Vessels Manufacturers Forum to Visit QA Weld Tech

pressure vesells

On 27th February we will be welcoming representatives from the Pressure Vessels Manufacturing Forum (PVMF) as they visit our multiple facilities at QA Weld Tech.

We will be showcasing our high-tech pressure testing facilities – using the latest technology upgraded to meet the latest HSE requirements –  and demonstrating our capabilities within the sector. We are delighted that we have been provided with the opportunity to show representatives from the forum around our nine adjacent workshops.

The PVMF is a networking group of up to 15 leading UK pressure vessel manufacturers sponsored and organised by Lloyd’s Register and which ensure quality and standards on products are upheld within the industry.  As a verified member of PVMF, QA Weld Tech meet with delegates on a regular basis to share industry knowledge, material production processes, legislative and employment issues.

The visit is on the back of the success of the excellent seminar recently presented by our Technical Director, Richard Knowles at Pressure Testing 2017 and which attracted over 100 delegates. From highlighting the safety risks posed by pressure testing of newly manufactured and installed pipework and pressure vessels, Richard not only received great feedback, he also received an outstanding 8 out of 10 award for the presentation held at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in London.

QA Weld Tech is very much looking forward to PVMF taking a look around our facilities as well as providing us with the opportunity to showcase our pressure testing facilities and receive advice from this prestigious forum.
