Ichthys LNG Project

Project Info

The Ichthys LNG Project is located 220 km offshore Western Australia and is largest discovery of hydrocarbon liquids in Australia in 40 years. It is ranked among the most significant oil and gas projects in the World. When full production is reached it is expected to produce 9 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with more than 100,000 barrels of condensate per day.

Due to the risk of hydrate formation at low temperatures in natural gas wells QA Weld Tech were contracted to supply 22 sets of Methanol and Glycol (MEG) injection spools in a mix of carbon steel and solid Alloy 625 for GE Oil & Gas’ vertical tree systems. Our scope of work included development of weld procedures, pressure testing and coating. By setting up dedicated production cells with bespoke jigs we were able to maintain a delivery schedule that stretched over 12 months, managing all parts of the fabrication process from material procurement through to NDT and specialist coating.
