QA Weld Tech Achieves Fit for Nuclear Accreditation

F4N

After passing a series of rigorous measures, we are delighted to announce that we have successfully been awarded the highly sought-after Fit for Nuclear (F4N) accreditation and are now recognised as a reputable provider in the nuclear supply chain.

F4N was developed by the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC) to help assist UK manufacturers secure work in the nuclear sector. It was established to create an industry benchmark allowing companies to measure their operations against the standards required to operate in a complex sector and close any gaps in doing so.

The achievement of the F4N accreditation comes on the back of QA Weld Tech recently securing both the ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 quality standards, highlighting our core capabilities to deliver renowned services to the very highest industry requirements.

The F4N accreditation will open up many doors, contribute towards QA Weld Tech establishing its business within this growing sector, making us a recognised, highly creditable supplier with nuclear buyers and showcasing our commitment in supporting the UK’s nuclear programme.

Pressure Vessels Manufacturers Forum to Visit QA Weld Tech

pressure vesells

On 27th February we will be welcoming representatives from the Pressure Vessels Manufacturing Forum (PVMF) as they visit our multiple facilities at QA Weld Tech.

We will be showcasing our high-tech pressure testing facilities – using the latest technology upgraded to meet the latest HSE requirements –  and demonstrating our capabilities within the sector. We are delighted that we have been provided with the opportunity to show representatives from the forum around our nine adjacent workshops.

The PVMF is a networking group of up to 15 leading UK pressure vessel manufacturers sponsored and organised by Lloyd’s Register and which ensure quality and standards on products are upheld within the industry.  As a verified member of PVMF, QA Weld Tech meet with delegates on a regular basis to share industry knowledge, material production processes, legislative and employment issues.

The visit is on the back of the success of the excellent seminar recently presented by our Technical Director, Richard Knowles at Pressure Testing 2017 and which attracted over 100 delegates. From highlighting the safety risks posed by pressure testing of newly manufactured and installed pipework and pressure vessels, Richard not only received great feedback, he also received an outstanding 8 out of 10 award for the presentation held at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in London.

QA Weld Tech is very much looking forward to PVMF taking a look around our facilities as well as providing us with the opportunity to showcase our pressure testing facilities and receive advice from this prestigious forum.

QA Weld Tech is Celebrating 1000 Days Incident Free

Back in April, we reported that we celebrated two years without a Lost Time Accident (LTA) and we are delighted to update that due to our ongoing commitment to safety, we are now approaching 1000 days incident free having spotted and removed over 650 hazards.

Our primary focus at QA Weld Tech is looking after our employees through engagement and regular safety meetings. By issuing individuals with a Hazard Spotting and Near Miss Reporting booklet, as well as encouraging all team members to report any cases of near misses and uncontrolled hazards to their line manager, it has been proven that we can prevent potential incidents from occurring and more serious accidents from happening.

We take pride in that we have such a close, dedicated workforce that have adapted to our ‘no blame’ culture and are able to open up in addressing issues that may be of concern as this helps towards us creating a safer environment for all.

To celebrate the success of 1000 days LTA free, every employee was presented with two new polo shirts as a reminder to not lose focus on safety goals as we aim to be at the forefront of good health and safety practice in our industry, setting the standards for others to follow.
